Reflections half way through

Day 15 of 31
So here we are, about half way through the Slice of Life Challenge (months with odd numbers are tough on this math teacher).  And so far, I've made it!

Here's what I've learned so far:

  • I enjoy the process of writing in this blog, I'm not finding it too hard to come up with topics and this process is pretty quick
  • I have alluded to the fact that there is major crap at work right now.  I'm enjoying the fact that blogging gives me something else to do, something else to think about and most importantly, something else for ME!
  • I have enjoyed reading the other blog entries, we come from so many different walks of life
Here are some of my challenges:
  • I find commenting a challenge, mostly because it is difficult for me to access and (especially) comment using my phone.  I have spent a few minutes every night commenting from the computer, but I'm usually ready for bed.
  • I have read many blogs, but not many consistently.  Hopefully I will get to know more of you throughout this process
  • I think, perhaps, that I need to focus my blog to something.  Parenting, teaching math, I don't know...
To that end, tgif.  I need this weekend like it's nobody's business...and next week is even longer.

  1. It is amazing that the month is almost halfway over. I don't think your blog has to have a focus, I like learning about all the different parts of your life. I've felt really frustrated with commenting this year, way too many participants to ever find time to respond to everyone. So I hopscotch around., I do love this month even though it's a daunting challenge for me.

  2. Rachel I'm so glad you are enjoying the experience. I think that commenting with a phone would be very hard. I don't even life using the iPad. Laptop is best, I think.

  3. I'm amazed that I've made it halfway through the month already, too. I love reading the other blogs, and I've enjoyed the writing. My blog is a catch-all. It's primarily to share book reviews and class assignments and student work, but I also add other things pretty regularly.

  4. This is the first time I have participated and I really didn't know what do expect or if I would make it this far. I could have written your post, because my reflections would be very similar to yours!

  5. This is my second year in the challenge and I have found it very rewarding. Last year when my daughter challenged me to join, I thought what the heck am I going to write about, but so many things came to mind and it became a habit. I don't think there has to be a focus - it's about what's happening in your life. Keep writing and commenting when you can.

  6. This is my first year too and I am surprised I have been able to write a post each day....late one today...but it got in. I would imagine writing comments on the phone would be difficult. Just do the best you can. I started my blog to be about family stories...but during this month...it is whatever comes to my mind. Okay...half way through...we can make it!!! 7. There's a good reason I named my blog "melange". It is a mish-mash... varies depending on my mood.

Congrats on making it to the halfway point, and I hope we keep seeing you weekly during the rest of the year!

  8. Happy half way! I hope you have a great weekend. I'm with everyone else when it comes to topics--I think you can meander and mix as long as you're writing and enjoying it.

  9. I have made a commitment to write with a focus, but I sometimes want to post something on a different topic. The theme adds a new layer to the challenge.
